PE

PE is on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Your child needs a full PE kit including:

  • Blue Dallam PE Top
  • Black Shorts
  • Trainers

Please note: school no longer allows children to wear pumps for PE.

You may also wish to send in a black / navy blue jumper or hooded top and pair of jogging bottoms as we will still be outside as the weather turns colder.

Home/School Link Books

Home - School link books are checked by a member of Willow Class Staff daily. If you have a message to send into school, your child's link book is the best place to do so.

Please also make sure that your child has their link book in with them each day, should we need to write a note home.

Outside Play

Every day in Willow Class, we use our own outdoor area and the forest school area to play, explore and learn. Please could you send in a pair of wellies to be kept in school as it can be muddy.

Snack

As we are a Healthy School, your child's snack should consist of food such as toast, breadsticks, fruit, yoghurt or vegetables. Drinks should be either fresh fruit juice, milk or water. Cereal bars are not to be sent in for snack.

Toast is available from school at a charge of just £1 for the week. The payment is to be paid on a Friday for the following week.

If you would like any help with this, please pop into the school office or call for some advice.

Our Science Topic this term is Light:

snow-and-stars-are-falling

We will be exploring where light comes from and how shadows are made!

We will explore different ways to change shadow sizes and positions through investigations as well as discovering how reflective materials can help us stay safe!

Reading

Reading books will be sent home on Monday and need to be returned on Friday. They do not need to come into school every day.

Your child will bring home two books at the level they are currently reading at and we ask that you hear your child read as many times as you can during the week. Reading and sharing the same book can greatly improve reading fluency and sight vocabulary.

Please remember to sign your child's homework diary so they can work towards a Reading Champions mention on the weekly newsletter,

Look what we're doing this term...

Our project question (linked to History) this term is...

Who were our prehistoric ancestors?

As part of this project, we will be learning about the Stone Age, Iron Age, Bronze Age and the Romans. We will be finding out about life as a hunter gatherer, early farming and cave art. As well as the Roman Empire, life as a Roman Soldier and Roman inventions.

Some of the activities the children will take part in are:

  • Ordering timelines
  • Creating cave art
  • Writing a guide for how to be a hunter gatherer
  • Designing Roman shields
  • Writing a diary entry as a Roman Soldier

Maths

This term we will be focussing on number and place value.

You can support your child by regularly logging on to either Numbots or TT Rockstars -https://ttrockstars.com/login
