Autumn Term 2023

Year 6 Residential September 2023 - Forest Camp

Our geography question is:

What might I find outside the United Kingdom?

Our history question is:

Who were the Mayans?

Have a look at our project letter and knowledge organisers below, for even more information about what we will be learning.

  • We will be reading Troll Swap by Leigh Hodgkinson
  • Over this half term we will be looking at the features of fictional stories, improving our language choices and working hard to plan stories using our own ideas.

This half term we will be primarily focusing on the following:

  • Mental maths skills (including number bonds/times tables)
  • Place value - working on understanding numbers and what each digit is worth.
  • Number - working to add, subtract, multiply and divide. Understanding when to use formal methods, how to use practical equipment to support our skills.

Remember to encourage your child to practice their times tables often using TT Rockstars. Times tables are so important for them to achieve their full potential.

This term our Science topic is:

Earth and Space

As part of our weekly Spanish sessions we learnt how to make a fruit salad and speak in Spanish as we did this. We combined this with our life skills and had a great morning. It was delicious!

Homework will be set every Monday. This will consist of a spelling activity, handwriting and maths or English.

Homework is due back on Friday.

In addition it is important that your child:

  • Practices their times tables
  • Reads regularly (school or home books). There is also Oxford Reading Buddy that they can access online.
